First let me say that yes, I am aware that this is too much lubrication for a pistol. There is absolutely such a thing as over lubrication and you will find it in this video. This is what to do on a first application of the product. After the first application and working it in thoroughly, return to lubing in normal amounts.

That being said, there is a reason Slipstream is the only firearm lube we recommend or use...It's just that freaking good.
