A Little About Gundoc's Authors

Proud to now be a part of the Texas shooting sports industry.

Our owner, Joseph Chetwood, or "Gundoc" as most know him by, after an early medical discharge from Marine Corps boot camp, attended Gunsmithing School where he graduated at the top of his class. Soon after graduation he began work for the Department of Energy as a contractor where he would further his education in the D.O.E. basic and advanced armorers' courses, certifying him to work on a variety of military weapons. While with the D.O.E. Joe was able to work with a wide range of groups, in an armorer capacity, such as Salt Lake County S.W.A.T, the U.S. Marine Corp, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy Special Boat Team, the British Royal Marines, and U.S. Secret Service. All this experience has brought Gundoc to describe himself as the "Tactical Gunsmith" and his work has been seen in sources such as Tactical Weapons Magazine and Guns & Weapons of Law Enforcement.

Joe brings his wealth of knowledge and experience in repairing, refinishing, camouflaging, and building tactical weapons to everything he writes.

Joseph flat out makes the best rifles. Period. Other guys out there assemble... Joe perfects. From building a custom to taking an existing rifle and making it custom... with his expert Cerakote refinishing... No one is better.

Our newest writer, Paul Aldrich, started gunsmithing in 1995 restoring old military firearms and studying how to build 1911 pistols,  I spent 6 months learning the Wilson combat way of building 1911's. Following that I spent the next 5 years apprenticing under 2 master gunsmiths. During that time I started P & B All American Firearms as a gunsmith. I kept that business open till 2010 When my original business partner left. In 2011 I opened Black Mace Arms where I continued to work on all types of guns. I also went to work for Beretta USA in their Technical Services Department where I was trained on all things Beretta.

I have been credited with the rework of the decock lever for the 92fs model Beretta. Which is currently in production as the 92G.   I currently work as a Lead Gunsmith at a local shop as well as running Black mace arms. I am familiar with most makes and models of firearms and have the ability to manufacture parts. I have made parts and repaired over 10,000 firearms. I also perform modifications of firearms as customers require for competition or just general shooting needs.

I test products on a regular basis as part of my daily work as customers bring them to me to work on.
