Legendary Gear
The legend of the Bigfoot continues....just not as a big hairy dude. Well...I guess that depends on your beard...but that’s another story. I’m talking, instead, Bigfoot Gun Belts (a Tedder Ind company along with Alien Gear). This article has been coming for a while. The reason for that is that they do more than just one style of belt. The main difference is the thickness of the materials. There’s the 14oz, 14oz with Stainless Steel core, and an 18oz with Stainless Steel core. (For all other belt material specs follow the link here) I was originally sent the 18oz. While being impressed with the construction, which is phenomenal, it concerned me because it was too thick to work with any of my holsters. Kind of hard to like a holster, no matter how well made, if you have to cut on every holster you own to get the belt to work. I sent my contact a quick email and was told that this was the entire reason for the 14oz belt. First thought...could have told me that in the first place. They really like to allow writers to get their own opinion of their products before giving background information. If Tedder industries have one flaw...this is it. People...give your writers some info...”this belt thickness is meant for duty gear...it won’t work with CCW gear...or something. Anyway, they were great and sent out one of the steel cored 14oz belts. This is still an exceptionally thick belt. I still have to force it through the belt slots in my holsters...but it works. I asked them for some extra length for use with Inside the waistband holsters and they were more than happy to oblige. The belt was a thing of beauty. Matte black buckle, deep black leather, and great stitching. The thing I noticed right away was with an outside the waistband holster that I was going to need to add a new notch. That isn’t something I think is missing on the belt. For its length it has an adequate amount of holes for inside carry. Outside carry made the belt a bit loose. But here’s the thing....this belt didn’t need to be as tight as my old one. It made carrying easy without having to cinch it up as tight as I usually would have. The steel core makes it just that ridged. I was amazed. Bigfoot belts are a great product with a great price tag. I spent as much on my old Galco belt but it doesn’t have the quality that you get with a Bigfoot belt. I highly recommend taking a closer look at these guys.
