Ultimate What?
Holy crap, what a disaster. I was just flipping through my monthly issue of a CCW magazine and found a train wreck that I had to pass along. Probably a “misery loves company” type of thing. The biggest misfortune is that they are doing enough business to buy a half page, targeted, advertisement in a magazine. I know how much those ads cost and it takes a healthy budget to buy monthly advertising from any publication. Enter Ultimate Concealed Carry...that’s almost like having the moxie to call your rifle an Ulfberht. I’m sorry but never call a product something that it can never measure up to. Saying that you are the ultimate choice in concealed carry equipment is entirely too bold. You’ll see why I say that when I show you their contribution to the CCW market.
Here's the first one I'll comment on...
We have covered a similar product to their Grip-It. This holster is for your pocket gun. The thing it does wrong is that it’s made to not be removed when drawing the weapon. It’s made to stay right where it is but has to do so by having an exposed trigger. I’ll wait for that to sink in a bit....yes, I said and exposed trigger. Someone is going to shoot themselves in the leg because their keys get tangled inside the trigger guard. Did I really hear them say that the Grip-It can be used like a forward grip for an AR? Seriously? Not only that but now it makes it better for “those long shots”. How the hell far are you expecting to have to shoot with a .380? Not everyone can hit a 100yd silhouette like I can with a .380 and I certainly wouldn’t advise trying that in a defense situation if for no other reason than, if they’re that far away...run...don't shoot. My head is spinning here. Take a look at the Hide-It. I have, to be honest about this thing. I don’t mean to be crude but I’m not sure it’s a holster for a gun or your nut sack. This thing makes the gun actually sit down your pants. No part of the gun is visible. It sits down at the bottom edge of your pocket. So instead of being able to simply draw the weapon you have to hold your pants out to give enough space for the back end of the gun to escape your belt. There’s just one problem I see with that. If you’re actually using your belt to keep your pants up then won’t there be too little room to pull a handgun out of there? Take a look...
Do we even need to go into the “fits everything from .380 to .45”? You can see from the video how sloppy the example gun fits in that leather pocket. That tells me no jumping around...don’t want to jostle the pistol out to fall down my pant leg. Is this really the “ultimate” gear? Okay, I don’t want this to go by without giving credit where it’s due. Ultimate
Concealed Carry also makes a more traditional IWB holster. It appears to be made to industry standards. So, I’ll give them that much. Anyway, this boastful by name company just does not rate a Gundoc Seal of Approval.
