Some secrets are worth sharing. Blackhole Weaponry barrels are one secret that needs to be shouted from the rooftops. I have known this company for a long time and even spoken with the owner on occasion. They’ve always been a standup supplier. Yes, that’s right Blackhole barrels are the secret to Crusader Weaponry’s deadly accurate rifles.
Unlike most barrel makers in the US, Blackhole employs polygonal rifling which gives you many advantages over traditional methods. Polygonal rifling does less deformation to the bullet. That gives it the ability to fly better and with less drag. It also gives a better gas seal around the bullet. Less gases leaking means better velocities. Having less hard angles for the machining process to leave burrs on also means no real break in period needed to optimize accuracy. All this adds up to better accuracy from the barrel. So whether you need it for hunting, competition, or long range military applications you want polygonal rifling.
I know...you’re thinking, if polygonal rifling is so great why isn’t it being used for real
military applications? It is...just not in the US. Heckler and Kock has used this rifling in their rifles...and employed by more than one European military with weapons like the PSG-1. You will also see it in HK’s MP5 used by many SWAT teams throughout our countries. You’ll see it in HK and Glock pistol barrels (the reason you can’t shoot lead bullets through factory barrels). It just has never made it into the mainstream of US rifles. But it should.
Each barrel is machined from match grade 416R stainless steel featuring Caudle 3 land polygonal rifling, which consists of a series of arcs, instead of the traditional 90 degree angles. So not only are they extremely accurate but machined like a tank.
There are almost too many options for these barrels. If anything I’d say that was the one downfall of the company. Trying to keep track of all that has to be confusing.
