Adams Holsters: Like a Tank
Adams Holsters has been one of my "go to" craftsmen for a few years now. I was first introduced to Luke and his bride at SHOT Show. Great, wish you could spend more time with, salt of the earth people that make you feel welcome anywhere they happen to be. Who better to make your next carry companion. We walked around for hours discussing his methods, the study involved in creating his process, and his genuine caring that goes into each and every holster. He could get by, and increase his profit margins, by using inferior quality materials but he refuses to make anything that isn’t exceptional. From leather thickness to dying methods he absolutely makes the toughest holster on the market. I’ve got one of his IWB holsters soon after that. I was really impressed with it. The quality was far beyond that of the big holster companies. It kept my pistol tight against my side and remained “all day comfortable” every time I wore it. It was amazing but that design has been upgraded. I respect someone who is always looking for a way to make something great into something exceptional. That’s truly the case with Adams Holsters. Adams customer service is just as hardcore as his holsters. After years of use, and summer sweat, the back panel of the holster had become cracked. The cracking didn’t go all the way through the leather and the holster was still 100% functional. In fact, I still wore it on an almost daily basis. Even with a little surface blemishing it was still an amazing concealed holster. I contacted Adams to ask if I could treat the back panel with something to keep it from
cracking further. I really didn’t want to lose this holster. It had become my EDC for a reason. Lukas Adams reply blew my mind. I was told that there really wasn’t anything to save my old holster but he had recently redesigned it and would be sending out a new holster ASAP. I was floored. You go to Galco or any other big box holster company and they will tell you to get bent. Not Lukas. Adams Holsters is truly a customer service badass. I didn’t think his original design could get much better. I was wrong. The leather thickness increased. One obstacle to an inside the waistband holster is that it collapses once the pistol is drawn. With this hardcore pattern that simply isn’t the case. It is way too rigid for that. One thing I will note about the holster being so rigid is that it does add a little bulk to your hip. It’s not a flaw it’s not something I'm saying is wrong with the holster. It’s simply something that you, as the person carrying it, needs to know and plan for. You may want to make sure your shirt is a little longer, or your pants slightly loose, to deal with the bulk. That being said my first trial run with this rig I didn’t change anything. It made my pants a little tighter than I prefer but that’s not a big deal. I found that that even though I’m a big guy my Glock 23 disappeared with only a t-shirt. Again make sure it’s a little longer so the
bulge on your hip isn’t visible...depending on barrel length. All I can really do from here is let you see the pictures and tell you that I really can’t recommend this holster more. If you are in the market for new CCW gear lookup Adams Holsters and buy one. I have one favorite OWB...and one favorite IWB...Adams is the only leather IWB that I will own.
