Diamondhead Polymer Flip Up Sights

I was recently given as set of flip up sights to reveiw from Diamondhead USA. They have a few models but I was given the Polymer, Diamond Integrated Sighting System, with NiteBrite. After checking the package to ensure there was no damage, I found the plastic clam shell to be cheap and flimsy for a $100 set of sights.

I installed the sights on a Standard AR-10 Platform rifle. The installation was simple and solid with one screw and a nut to hold the sights on. The picatinny rail clamps are solid on the rails. The release for the flip up sights is large and accessible with little effort and the the sights freely rotate into position for use. I found little to no flaw with the quality of the construction of the product.

I took the rifle to my local 200 yard range for zeroing. The adjustments were difficult to operate and there is no indication of how much adjustment is needed for distance. After adjusting to zero at 200 yards a group of 4 minute of angle was easily maintained. I also noted that the use of an optic to co-witness is not possible without a high mount base for the optic. I was unable to use my Aimpoint Comp M2 with the sights at all. The sights are quite tall and could be brought down a little in size.

I would not recommend the sights unless the adjustments were changed for ease of function and marked for operator use. I will however state that the quality of the sights is decent. The front high visibility sight is very easy to see and helps center the sight in the rear. The rear sight could use some sort of markings on the sides of the loop, not on the outside of the sight base.
